My Story
Having always had a love of learning, I qualified as an English Teacher in 2003, gaining my PGCE from the University of Southampton. For 16 years, I worked in a range of schools, taking on a variety of roles including Assistant Head of English and Whole School Literacy Coordinator.
When I left formal teaching, I worked as an Educational Consultant, sharing my English Language and Literature expertise as a national and international tutor and lesson designer. I have created bespoke and innovative curriculums for several international companies and received glowing reviews for my creative, original lesson development.
I am an English specialist with 19 years of experience teaching and tutoring. I hold a BA (Hons) degree in English comprising 50% English Literature and 50% Creative Writing. I have extensive knowledge of teaching English for 11+ grammar and independent school entrance exams including GL, CSSE, SET and ISEB.
In my sessions, I create a warm, inclusive, friendly learning environment where students feel valued and supported to make rapid progress.
I hold an enhanced DBS certificate and I complete a yearly Safeguarding qualification. I am a qualified Safer Recruitment leader and I follow GDPR guidelines. I am also registered with the ICO.

I am adept at successfully tutoring students for a range of independent and grammar schools. My classes combine academic rigour with a nurturing and supportive delivery, ensuring success for all students. All sessions include comprehensive, original resources and detailed feedback. The price listed below is per student, per session.

Class Information
✅ Original Content
All my lessons are created especially for my students. I do not use other resources in my lessons because I believe my students need (and deserve) personalised content and activities. Therefore, all my resources are unique and original. You won't find them anywhere else!
✅ Support and Encouragement
I am experienced in creating personalised lessons for students with a range of needs. I can provide rigorous academic challenge for Gifted and Talented students; supportive strategies for students with Additional Learning Needs; or mindfulness techniques for students who need tailored emotional support.
✅ Engaging Lessons
I believe learning should be fun and engaging. I create warm, nurturing environments where students feel safe, secure and confident. Although I ensure progress is achieved in every lesson, I encourage fun and laughter as I believe students make more progress when they are enjoying their learning.
✅ Marking and Feedback
All students are provided with an individual Google Drive folder where I upload and mark their weekly homework tasks. I add my feedback using a Google Drive document which allows both students and parents/carers to track progress. In addition, I create and share termly reports for students in Year 4 and Year 5.
✅Considered Schedule
I leave time between all my sessions to give students (and parents/carers) the chance to speak to me at the end of the lesson. Likewise, my flexible, considered schedule means there are no abrupt endings to my lessons as I don't need to sign off immediately for another class.

How many students will there be in each class?
I keep my classes small to ensure I can comprehensively track the progress of all the students. I allow a maximum of 10 students in a group.
What platform do you use for group classes?
I use Zoom to deliver my sessions. In addition, all students are provided with an individual Google Drive folder for use in class and for independent learning tasks.
What resources do you use?
I create all my own resources to ensure your child receives original content in each session. I do not use existing workbooks in my sessions, although I can recommend books for additional study.
How will you ensure my child makes progress?
Will you let me know if you have any concerns about my child?
How do I book a session?
I track progress through a combination of answers in class, independent learning tasks and completing regular exam papers. I am adept at identifying target areas and planning lessons to address any gaps.
Absolutely. I have a collaborative approach to tutoring so I will communicate with you regularly and share any target areas. I will also let you know when your child is performing well! :-)
